‘I removed all my tools from the store’: Head mechanic revokes employees' 'privileges' after workers go overboard, finishing 400 bags of chips

'Don't take advantage of a nice thing or it may go away', said u/tKLogicTA, who revoked his employees' privileges after they managed to finish 400 bags of chips in 3 weeks.

Let's start at the beginning. OP opened a shop about 10 years ago, where he was working as a full-time mechanic. As time went on, he allowed himself to lay back a bit and relax. Taking on a more entrepreneurial role, he began broadening his horizons, acquiring more properties and businesses. He still made sure to visit the shop every week to help the other mechanics. OP provided a lot of things for his employees but came to find that they were ungrateful.

What it all came down to was… chips. OP provided chips, which he would leave in the shop. One day, when OP was visiting the shop to help out, he went to grab a bag, but came back empty-handed, as he realized that they were all gone. Was it possible that the employees went through 400 bags of chips in 3 weeks? He figured someone was taking advantage of his kindness, and held a meeting, which didn't help.

So he revoked ALL employee privileges, instead of punishing one person. Team morale… where? Scroll down to read what happened next. For more, here is an HOA that doesn't comply with their own covenants, which made one resident determined to teach them a lesson.

    Font - I believe everyone here is getting paid fairly based where we are in the midwest. Most of these individuals I have known for years, and the turnover is pretty low. Most of it is apprentices graduating or senior mechanic wanting more money but there really isn't any

    Font - tKLogicTA OP. 11 hr. ago I personally don't see this as punishment. The perks removed are very minor and are not standard stuff you see at every shop. Even my SO's office job don't have any of these stuff. Do they used a filtered tap water system? Nope. They don't even get free parking.
